Kokopelli | Native Americana
The Kokopelli legend has grown over the years from stick figures carved in rock to icon of the American Southwest. In the 80's the wolf stood as the figure most representative of the independent spirit of the American Southwest. In the 90's Kokopelli and the stories and history surrounding him became the new symbol of the region.
The ancient flute player is alternately described as a trickster, a wandering Casanova, a rainmaker, story teller and fertility god. Much of the legend is rooted in the rock art or petroglyphs of a stick figure playing a flute.
